Where the Blogging Traffic Is and How to Get It

This a very common question that I get all the time, and that’s where can I get more traffic, how do I build more traffic, how do I get more readers, or how can I increase my ranking.  These are all great questions that I continue to see everywhere.  That’s what I want to break it down and share with you some of the best tips on start building your blog up in some consistent traffic.

The last thing you want to do is to give up on the idea of blogging!

Sticking with it and continue to blog is the first key.  Though, the problem that I am seeing is so many blogs out there have a Alexa ranking well over the 500K which is a nice yellow flag that some changed need to be made.

That’s why I am sharing with you this valuable information that has helped every single blogger that have applied these 5 easy steps and have increased traffic and ranking.

Start and finish with impressive content

Before you even attempt to get any kind of traffic to your blog, you must have impressive content that makes visitors want to come back.   I am not talking about the run of the mill, or another list post that you continue to see on just about ever blog.  I am talking about impressive content that educates, helps, and engages readers.

Get inside and know your specific niche news.  I mean seriously do your homework, get know the ins and outs of your niche.  Start sharing all the knowledge you have within that niche.  Be personal, real, and share the how you got to know all this information.

Give such impressive content that they want to continue to talk about it, and learn more because you were able to deliver it in a real and practical way.

Always give away your most impressive content!

Mingle with big names

Start making connections with other sites, bloggers, and businesses. Be friendly, helpful, and look for creative ways to get your foot in the door and be relating with some of the big names out there.

This does not mean to bug them, but to slowly try to build a relationship.  Often times I will offer suggestions, retweet, or just drop an email.  Some of the best ways to start building relationship is by giving.  Give your best content; give some link love, or even just giving a big shout out in your next email.

Remember, everyone has started right where you are and those bloggers that have been doing it for a while know where you been and have others helped them.  Over time connecting with big name bloggers will help you build a solid reputation.

Build your stage up

This step is after you created some impressive content.  It is now, time to start building up a stage by setting up a social media platform. This is where you go and sign up for all the social media sites and make sure that you fill out each profile out complete with unique content and of course always link back to your site through this.

Another thing to look into is to sync these accounts up with your blog.  This is a great way to build your stage.  When signing up for these social media sites don’t limit your stage by only signing up for the big names such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.  Take it a few extra, and dig deep into your niche to find some of the best social media sites and even social bookmarking sites.

Don’t expect instant and huge traffic from this, but you should see a nice little increasing momentum starting to build when used correctly and spread out over time.  The biggest key I always share is along as your traffic and ranking continues to increase each month you headed in the right direction.

Building a following

Sometimes especially starting off not many people are coming to your blog.  So you have to go to the people.  You have to find where the people are and meet them where they.  So this is joining other groups, joining Google hangouts, being active in forums, and blog commenting on other blogs.

A few things to be thinking about when go about discovering these different groups to join.  Also, think of contributing by adding value, remember who your wanting to target, and lastly think about solving others problems.

This does not mean and sadly I see this happen just about every day.  Do not and let me repeat myself do not go and join these groups and the first comment you say here is the answer and leave a link back to your site.

Take the time to actually add value on that other site or group.  After time people will start to notice and be interested to know more.  That’s when you naturally start to build a following.

Gain some influencers

If your following up steps you have impressive content, mingled with some big names, and got some followers from other groups.  Now it’s time to gain the influencers, and the best way that I know how to do this is by guest blogging.

Here are some of the rules that I try to follow when pursuing a guest blogging opportunity:

1.)   I always try to go higher.  I look for sites that might have just a little more traffic, or a little higher ranking, or have a better Alexa ranking than mine site.

2.)   Make sure I have had at least 5 interactions if not more with that blog.  So that means at least leaving 3 blog comments, liking a post, retweeting something, or even an email. Make sure you have reached out at 3 times in some way.

3.)   Research and be able to know who their target audience is, what kind of style fits well within the blog, and what topics they are most interested in guest blogging.

4.)   Seal the deal with a simple, short, and sweet email pitching your impressive ideas.

Be able to close the whole process by promoting your guest blog tons through every avenue you can think of by email, phone calls, and even the old fashion letters if need be.

Go for the grand slam

After you have build up a nice and consistent traffic of unique daily visitors its time to go for the grand slam.  What I mean by this taking it up a notch by offering a few new twists:

  1. Produce something new and creative like add a podcast, audio, or even a video go along with your blog.
  2. Create a blog series of incredible informational posts
  3. Offer incentives, contests, or giveaways.
  4. Thing of some type of campaign for  example send someone one of your best articles to have them run it in there next email.

I know these are steps that I have taken on this blog and many others and have seen huge increase in traffic and rankings.  So if you are like all the rest that I see, that have emailed me, or just continue to ask how I can build more traffic and ranking.  Send them to this article because it will truly help them start building up the traffic today.

      Hey Marco,

Yes now is the time to start connecting and start to connect with some major influencers within your niche. Get your name out there and start to mingle. Just remember to always be helpful, and go in with an attitude to learn from those influencers.

      Best of Luck,
