The Secret Sauce To Niche Blogging

Competition is just downright tough in today’s blogging world.  Everywhere you look you see someone blogging about the topic you’re talking about, and there are well over billions of blogs that continue to pop up every single second literally.  How many blogs do you think are out there these days?  Check the blog stats here.

There is no question that this formula works and works really well.

Content + Consistency + Promotion = Average Blog

Quality Content + Consistency + Promotion = Better Blog

Quality Content + Consistency + Targeted Promotion = Good Blog

What could you add to make that even better?

I have the secret sauce to getting an excellent and successful blog.  Here is what it would like looks like to create that most excellent blog that I can think of.

Quality Content + Consistency + Targeted Promoting + Hungry Audience = Excellent Blog

Being able to find that hungry audience through delivering a really targeted niche is the secret sauce that I have to work every since time. In any type of marketing it always comes down to being able to find those people that are hungry for the information, product, or idea that you have to offer.

What is a niche?

That’s a great question and that’s why I have taken the time to ask 25 experts that exact question.  Just to highlight a few that I feel are the best way to explain what a niche is.

See all the other blog scenarios can and will work, but once you’re able to hone in on a niche that hungry people continue to come and visit.  This is when you can know the niche is going to be successful and continue to poor and feed the people what they want.

In other words when your able to discover a niche that so specific that is targeted and hitting the targeted audience every single time.  That’s when you start to see the potential and how an good blog can quickly turn into an excellent blog.

How to Discover a Niche?

To start looking for niches and trying to discover niches can be a long and hard process.  Though, let me share with you that it’s the most important and pivotal part of fundamentally creating a excellent blog from the ground up.

There are several different ways to research for a niche, but I have figured out that the bottom line cold hard facts and stats is where it’s all at. The numbers don’t lie, and if you choose not to follow the numbers than your going to lose every time.

This is why it’s so important to not skip this part of really digging in deep and doing your homework in finding the right niche.

The Approaches To Finding a Niche

I have honestly used all three of these different approaches and have success and failure with all three of these approaches.  So its proof that they all work, and that you discover a niche in many different fashions.

1.)     Random Searching
Just like it sounds I would either go to search engines and start typing in random things that I would either thing or even ask my wife. It could be any random thought, product, idea, or something to search for and just start seeing what pops up and where that leads.

2.)     Thinking outside the box
This is where I have tried to think creatively of something new, something that’s hot, trending, or even something that getting a big media buzz right now (but always thinking of what could be the next big buzz).

3.)     Observing
This is just being aware, listening, looking around.  Looking for the hot market that you see.  Looking for the items that are selling like hot cakes.  No matter where you are at in life, there are opportunities and people are buying stuff all the time.  So just observing and seeing where people are spending their money is valuable.

Once you think you have a good solid niche.  Make sure your running it through the keyword search tools, check out the competition within that niche, and always find a competitors site to fully analyze from top to bottom.

Once you finalize on the specific niche make sure you come up with a solid core keywords to be able to create quality content surrounding these topics.

I wouldn’t exactly say it was a “secret sauce,” but it’s definitely a very comprehensive guide :) Tons of useful information like James above me said. Loss of interest is always the biggest issue to me when creating a blog, I hope I can some day overcome it. Hmm, perhaps I should start a blog about overcoming loss of interest in blogging… :)
