I think the entire “finding a niche” approach is backwards. I think bloggers should focus on writing what they know. If you focus on a subject that you are more knowledgeable than the general population, you will do just fine.

Like many I made the seemingly mistake of going into the mmo niche but after a few years it is actually starting to work out for me. The thing is by doing mmo you end up jumping way past others because of all the crap you went through. You will then be able to dominate other niches using what you have learned from the mmo niche.

Niche Marketing works in a formula of SEO. So, there is no guarantee that particular niche can survive in niche competition.

Chances are the problem is not necessarily within the niche or even the product, but more likely because of ineffective boneheaded marketing methods. Much of marketing includes favorable positioning within your niche and using sales techniques to “create” a demand for the product. The next product may produce similar results.

Choosing the right Niche is key to success. However, performing your keyword research is the foundation for building your site. Fresh, quality content is a must for a successful Niche, but you need to know what keywords to use so visitors can find your content.
