I have to contradict your theory. More or less Google is still paying the original online business. If we make a short checkout and see the top 10 bloggers, we will see that they make a fortune even today. Its true that they started in 2005, and they have content that we cant imagine, but this is the way of being a good business.

Blogging “can” be a waste of time. Depends what you say in a blog post. If it’s just fluff, crappy content for the sake of writing, then it’s a waste of time and you don’t need a blog. If you actually have valuable information to share and you know what you’re talking about, then blog your heart out.

Blogging just to blog is probably waste of time, in respect to earning money. On the other hand blogging might be used as a good promotional tool of your own products and services. It is hard to tell how effective it is since google as a search engine is talking more and more control over it’s own results. People don’t have much (white hat) regular (seo) options available, and blogging is one of them – so they still do it – what else could you do? – mail spamming :)

I think blogging can be a waste of time if you aren’t giving readers valuable content. Many people read blogs to learn about specific products or services. Business owners everywhere these days have a blog, and I think they are great for building a relationship with interested buyers and potential clients. however, as someone else stated, if they are a bunch of filler content, this can be a waste of the business owner’s time and the readers time.

I’ve had my best success with blogging. Actually, when I started taking blogging seriously is when I really started to attract quality traffic. Like anything else worthwhile, a good blog take time and effort to build.

    • Eric January 8, 2013 at 3:53 am #

Jason thanks for taking the time to share your opinion on blogging! How long have you been taking blogging serious?

  6. Charles January 7, 2013 at 5:56 am #

I agree with Jonathon. Far too many bloggers simply write to fill up space or to promote their products or services without providing any actual content. If you aren’t providing any valuable information that will be useful to readers in your niche, it might be best to use your writing skills elsewhere!

Blogging in order to making money is depend which strategies you choose for.
You can make money online with lot of ways and doesn’t mean must be a blog, you can with a website , with a e-commerce site , with social media , with third party selling site and so on .

Some people blog for making money , some people blog of getting awareness, some people blog in order to get popularity , some people blog just to share experience and stories with same interest society. Some people blog just to sell their product as blogshop.

For me i blog just because of SEO purpose that bring weight to my primary page and push up my primary domain in google ranking. Everyone have their reason to blog.

Blogging seems like a waste of time at the beginning. It’s not something that earns money right away – it takes time. That is why if you blog, you should blog about something you enjoy or something you’re passionate about. If you earn lots of money, great. If not, you will probably earn enough to treat yourself and a friend to coffee and have a place to share interests that you have. It’s not a good idea to put all of your energy into a blog. You want to have back up ways of earning money and work on your blog on the side.

I my opinion I would like to say, blogging can never be ended and never waste of time. I think the present world is build up by blogger. many man becoming popular by blogging nowadays not only becoming popular but also they earning much more then other jobs.

  11. Hayley Reeve March 4, 2013 at 11:42 am #

I guess the answer to your question lays in the intent of the blogger. I create and distribute content every day as part of my job, in this instance the content is written for a specific reason; to drive traffic and improve rankings, so yes blogging in this sense makes money.

However i started my own blog back last year, I know it will make me little money in adsense so i havent added any. Maybe one day i will, or maybe i’ll start publishing “sponsored posts” or some other tactic for a quick buck. But maybe ill just get bored of putting in hours of work for no return and auction off the domain.

There are so many bloggers out there now that paint themselves as “the authority” of blogging, often posting rubbish that is just a rehashed version of the same content and sporting a dodgy publicity shot in a desperate attempt to look more professional.

All i know is i dont wanna be one of those guys….I’d rather never make a cent.

It takes time for a blog to get a revenue. If we invest more on our blog we may get more. All it depends on the quality of the content written. If your looking for making money via blog in quick time , then you should not start a blog. A slow and well written article with a good SEO work will fetch you money, Faster Indexing in Google.

Yes, blogging takes time, hard work, and steadiness in my opinion always wins. Though I will never say or try to sell a quick buck especially when it comes to blogging.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and how long have you been blogging?

      Until next time,

Blogs, just like Facebook, Twitter and anything else on the Internet that’s easy to create, are as useful or as much a waste of time as the person behind the keyboard. The majority of the ‘content’ out there is utter garbage with a few pearls hidden amongst it all. The trick is to find these pearls.

  15. paulbarnett June 29, 2013 at 6:28 pm #

    Interesting thought.
I think a blog is good as a hub – a place people can come and read interesting information about you and your thoughts. By getting to know you they are more likely to trust you and be willing to try out your products.

Blogging can very easily be a near complete waste of time. When I was a lawyer it barely brought in any business. There are a couple of key laymen myths to be aware.

    1. While google does like blogs it doesn’t automatically rank them . I have an attorney friend who’s probably done 100 good posts to a blogspot blog that’s not ranking for anything local.

    2. You need to do a topic that attracts readers. Organic is great but some regular readership is the bomb.

    3. Certain things don’t benefit from name recognition. I did a fun legal reviews and restaurant tips blog and it didn’t help with my legal practice. People don’t like fun lawyers. I’m willing to bet it wouldn’ve really helped selling homes.

    4. You need to post at least every several days unless you’re famous anyway and then you still need to post regularly.

Blogging is a complete waste of time if you have nothing useful to blog about. Don’t just blog a load of nonsense. As the old adage goes, ‘if you have nothing worthwhile to say then don’t say anything at all’.

I do accept as true with all the concepts you’ve offered for your post. They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are too quick for novices. May just you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post….
