First we must address the value of why blog comments are important to your blog. This is a very simple idea which comes down to building a community or as if Seth Godin likes to explain it as a Tribe. When there is a community there is a body of people wanting to interact, socialize, and grow into a healthy fully functional community.
People want to be a part of something and something great! It is a proven fact that when people feel a part of a community that they will want to come and even tells their friends about it. It has been proven that if comments are increased on your blog, more time than not the traffic, subscribers, and tweets will continue to increase as well. Research this fact, and quickly it will be proven that any blog with a lot of comments usually has 3 times that amount of traffic to that same blog post. This is why blog commenting should be a focus on your blog today.
The Secrets on How to Get People to Comment
I want to share some simple little secret strategies that pros have used for years on how to get more comments, and lots of them.
1. Write an Incomplete Article
This little secret trick is something copy writers have used for decades. The idea behind this is to write a long but incomplete article which will attract a lot of interest amidst visiting traffic.
Here’s the snitch im secret. If the article continues to drag out the topic or niche, this will leave your readers with nowhere to go. They already have all the answers from your post, so why would they comment? The opposite will occur if articles that are too brief and undeveloped. There is a fine boundary to find the right balance to wake up enough passion and attraction in order to engage some more discussion.
2. Limit Comments
Seriously….limit comments? Yes limit comments. Some of the best bloggers out there will not allow you to comment on their old blog posts. This is the same marketing strategies that we have seen for years such as “one day only” and “flash” sales. This helps create the since of urgency when items, products, and even blogs are perceived as limited or sparse. If the comments are limited your comment section automatically becomes more attractive.
3. Respect the Community
Take imitative to respect the community, and the first way to do this is by commenting on your own blog. This is just a respect to show readers that I care, that I really want to hear what my readers have to say, and that I truly want to help my reader success. A simple reply daily, shows them that I am interested and usually the kindness in their hearts will make them come back and comment more often.
Also a bit of a snitch secret here a simple reply also gives your commenting section more depth. So I can literally double my comment just by replying to my readers comments. For example if 10 readers leave a comment, and I reply to each of them that turns out to be a total of 20 comments. Even if I just replay personally to say 25% the comment sections will continue to grow. Shh that is a Snitch IM secret!
I want to know what’s works on your blog
There is a saying, “the more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know”? I do not want to come across as a Mr. Know it all, but I do enjoy sharing what has worked for me in the numerous blogs that I have started. Though, I am always looking to find new strategies and techniques to improve what I do. Please leave a comment and let me know what strategies worked best on your blog. Is there any reason why your most commented articles did so well? Or is it totally random? I’m looking forward to engaging and learning from each other building a strong community!
