How Many Blogs Are There?

This is a great question and so I started to do a little digging and this or should I say these are the numbers that I came up to answer this ever or never ending question.

So just how many blogs are out there?

  • Tumblr.com shows it has over 101.7 Million blogs with 44.6 Billion blog posts
  • WordPress.com has over 63 Million blogs
  • Livejournal reports to have 62.6 million blogs with
  • Weebly states it has over 12 million blogs
  • Blogster has over 582,754 blogs

I could not find any real clear states for Blogger, Blogsome, or Posterous.   The crazy thought is that these numbers continue to grow per day!

Probably millions, and at least half of them unattended.
I have about 5, and I only have time for one.

Yep, there are millions but like Iban said, most are unnattended. I find blogs such a useful source of information, people willing to share their personal insights etc

Before it was chatting, a one to one interaction. But now anyone from anywhere, in few seconds can publish anything to the world. That means the world becoming very small inspite of geographical location. people looking always for new, where as some one create new applications. so it is a revolution of new ideas and applications. some how i get inspired and walking in the same direction to create something new.

Considering the fact that blogger is owned by google and google is also the largest search engine, based on that I expect blogger to have the highest number of blogs.

When I first built my website on SiteSell nine years ago, they said there were around 24 million websites on the ENTIRE www.

Then a few years ago I asked on Yahoo Answers how many there were and the answer was over a billion… now I can’t even begin to imagine how many websites there are!

And that does not include the ‘page sites’ that people create on Squidoo, Hubs, Wizzley, the old Knols etc. that are like mini-sites but hosted on a prime site.

The are millions of blogs out there. Those on blogger platform are quite enormous, although alot of them are moving to wordpress these day. For example, i moved my blog to wp just 1 week ago and i have found out that wordpress is better than blogger. So, if am starting another blog by next year, i will start on wp platform right from scratch.

    Thanks for sharing.

There must be a lot of blogs. The sad thing is that bloggers are losing nerve after few setbacks, and after a while they just give up.
