Here are eleven tips that I use when I write a blog post.
- Make head turning headlines
- Make your post easy to scan
- Make your opinion known
- Make mad links
- Less can be more
- 300 Words is enough
- Write with passion
- Include Bullet point lists
- Focus your posts on keywords
- Edit your post
- Keep a consistent style
1. Make head turning headline
Embrace the subject while gaining the whole argument in your headline. Pick up a magazine or national newspaper to see how the pros do it. Or just check out headlines that suck.
2. Make your posts easy to scan
Make sentences and headlines short and to the point. Every few paragraphs insert a sub heading.
3. Make your opinion known
People like blogs, and they want to hear your opinion. People want to know what other people think, crazy as it sounds they want to know what you think! Tell them exactly what’s on your mind without rambling or ranting (well sometimes ranting is okay).
4. Make mad links
Show support to other bloggers by linking back to their blogs that have valuable information in the blog post.
5. Less can be more
Writing less can be a bonus. Give the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words. Try to give people what they want in quick little post. A perfect example is Seth Godin.
6. 300 words is enough
Short and to the point wins the race.
7. Write with passion
People want to hear and read your passion behind the subject. Share your heart and pour it out in your posts.
8. Include bullet point lists
Check out A list of why list works!
9. Litter the post with Keywords.
Don’t go spamming the post with keywords, but do keep things in mind. When you write think of how people might go to search this topic and add some of those specific keywords. Again don’t just spam the page full of keywords. Make sure that your post is written naturally and makes sense when read.
10. Edit your post
Before you submit your post anywhere, re-read your complete post and cut out the fluff that is not need. Good writing is always in the editing.
11. Keep a consistent style
No one really like change, so keep things simple and consistent. Once you figured out your writing style stick to it
