How A Simple Facebook Story Goes Viral
This questions can be found all over the place, in forums, on blogs, everyone is wanting to know how to go viral. While, I don’t think viral marketing is as easy as putting together script like some might try to say for example this fake video of an eagle picks up baby. Or trying to figure out how to get famous? Sometimes “viral” is just a natural process.
I came across something this weekend that I feel is a beautiful example of a story going viral. Let me share with you the actual Facebook posted on Feb. 22nd. from the owner of Papa Roux.
Three things that really connect with me and I would conclude make things worth viral status, how to go viral, or even what some call viral marketing. Please let be clear to say that I don’t ever think Papa Roux thought this would go viral, nor would he call himself famous. Though, here are three things that connected with me:
- Being authentic – This was just real people, real interactions, and people just living and being transparent by putting down life experience in a post on Facebook.
- Share a unique story – not every story or even unique story will make it viral, but sharing those more unique stories that connect, are compelling, and powerful story.
- Help Others – Helping someone could have a several ways you look at it. I would like to say if you are really out to benefit someone else before yourself than you have a better chance and could even get chance on how to get famous!

As you can see this viral story has over 12,000 likes, over 880 comments, and was shared over 3,00 times. All just starting with someone being real, authentic, and sharing his personal experience. To me it just spoke volumes to what it takes to be viral. The great thing about this story is that it continues. Since that post, people have poured out more help, being real, and sharing there thoughts on this story.
This story has also been picked up by the local news “Man walks 10 miles for job interview“, and they even called it a viral story! This story actually almost has made Papa Roux famous through this whole experience. The best part is sometimes this whole viral movement just comes naturally. Just putting yourself out there in a real and transparent way is one the best no how to get famous, make a viral story, and results in viral marketing.
